The Artist
GEDIMINAS ZDANCIUS
I view my work as regenerative, designed not only to last for decades but to resonate with the evolving meanings we attach to art over time. As we navigate various stages of life, our understanding and appreciation deepen—encompassing themes of love, joy, loss, grief, and the resilience to move forward. It’s all about perspective. My goal is for my perspective on life and my imagery to evoke emotions and highlight the power of nature, capturing the delicate balance of our world while offering moments of reflection, peace, and wonder.
Born in 1963 in KlaipÄ—da, Lithuania, I served in the military before pursuing my passion for visual storytelling. I earned a degree in photography from VTT and later expanded my expertise with a degree in journalism from the Moscow School of Journalism. My professional journey began as a correspondent for KlaipÄ—da’s local newspaper and the renowned Vaga Publishing House.

In 1994, I founded UAB Fototechnika, a company that evolved from analog to digital photography, specializing in professional equipment and consulting for photographers and businesses. Whether it’s sports, travel, portrait, or product photography, I have worked with clients across the globe, including Israel, England, and Germany. My project “Baltijos Kelias” was recently featured on national television (TV3), commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Baltic Way—a historic event where over 2 million people formed a human chain across three countries, symbolizing love, unity, and resistance against occupation.

I feel compelled to mention this because when the Soviet Union collapsed, we had no means to defend ourselves as tanks rolled in to reclaim our country in 1991. We had only each other. We stood hand in hand, even as tanks crushed people beneath their weight. People kept holding on, standing firm, knowing what was at stake: our children’s future and the survival of our nation.
That’s what I mean when I create art. My work holds a deeper dimension, a lived meaning that comes from these experiences. When I photograph mountains, they embody strength, resilience, and perseverance—qualities I’ve come to know. My art is about peace, love, reflection, and hope. I hope you can feel that too.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story and for seeing the world through my lens.
